What an amazing shop…. Staff where lovely and the place was fantastic. Only issue was I spent way too much money
The lady working on the checkout on Saturday December 2nd was rude, obnoxious, and sarcastic.
We were attempting to purchase 2 horse riding hats, and we were unnecessarily assertively told that we could not buy them unless they had been fitted, as it was a legal requirement before they could be sold to us. Even though you can buy them online without such restrictions. When I pointed this out, the member of staff backtracked saying it was store policy.
We were also told that there was a sign telling us this, but that it wasn’t our fault that we couldn’t read it.
A member of staff was found to fit the hats we wanted to buy, and we were told in an impatient manner that we would have to wait 5 minutes. My partner decided that we would not buy them, and returned them to the shelf.
I will not return to this store to be spoken to in this manner again, and I do not feel that the “service” provided was welcoming or helpful in any way whatsoever.
Overall, an infuriating and unpleasant experience
I would not recommend this store to anyone.
Cafe with dog friendly areas, which is nice. It's a huge place. There's plenty of room for a swimming pool, but they don't seem to have thought of it. Strange.
Not only do you have to ring to find out if they have the items you need in stock, (generally don't so at least I've saved myself a wasted trip!) you now have to phone to find out if they have someone who can serve animal medicine. There's only someone there certain times and days. Fine,if someone actually answers the phone, after 10 calls this morning and no one answering have taken my business else where, what has happened to this store! Complained numerous times to head office, and will be again Monday, but nothings being done.
Good for farming supplies, dog food to fence posts and open at the weekend.
Prices seem reasonable and service seems good - there is a very wide selection of items for farmers and land owners, but there are also goods for the advanced gardener.
Wasted half an hour journey as the shop is always out of stock on most items that you need to buy, such as shavings and animal feed. Maybe focus more on stocking the shelves for farming essentials rather than gift items.
Just visited for dog food. Apparently the tills are out of action and have been for a week, so it's 'cash only'. That's an irritation, but these things happen.
However the women manning the door were the most rude and unwelcoming I've ever experienced in a shop. I was being policed like covid times.... barriers, manned entrance, quizzed as to what I wanted, as apparently only 'essential items' are available for purchase. Transactions have to be written down on paper and processed manually.
Not once was there an apology for the inconvenience or any pleasant explanation as to the problems they were encountering.
To cap it all, on the way out there were four women manning the door. As I approached a car pulled in to the car park and a man got out. One of the staff said to the others in a loud voice 'here's a time-waster'. I reminded her that most shops would refer to him as a customer! She just said to me 'well you should try working here for a couple of days - and you'd see why we're like it'.
Quite an extraordinary experience. I won't be rushing back!
Although I have to say that the manual processing of payment was much quicker that the usual massive queues and the painfully slow experience of paying at the tills!
This is a great store if you love animals and an outdoor life, as you are very well catered for! Definitely one for country dwellers...
